Mariamne (Μαριάμνη) is the Greek form of the Hebrew Miriam. Mariamne I (c. 54-29 BCE) was the last Hasmonean princess — granddaughter of Hyrcanus II, second and most beloved wife of King Herod the Great, who executed her in jealous rage and then mourned her so deeply he nearly went mad.
