The key is in the grip

Have you ever spent more than you should in the pool or in the tub? If your answer is YES, surely you noticed that your fingers and toes were completely wrinkled like raisins.

Keep reading and you will know why.

Our body, through the sebaceous glands, produces a special oil called sebum. The main function of sebum is to moisturize or protect the outermost layer of the skin. But staying in the water for long periods of time causes the water to wear down the sebum layer and penetrate the skin.

The skin wrinkles thanks to a reaction of the body’s nervous system. In fact, wrinkles are caused by constricting blood vessels under the skin. Thanks to this, it is easier to pick up wet objects with wrinkled fingers or prevent falls with wrinkled feet. Finger creases give you more grip, like car tires.
