Anah (עֲנָה) means "answer" or "reply" in Hebrew. In Genesis 36:24, Anah was the **discoverer of the hot springs in the wilderness** while pasturing his father Zibeon's donkeys — one of the few biblical women credited with a discovery. (Some traditions read Anah as male; later interpreters as female.)
Mother (or father) of Aholibamah, Esau's Hivite wife.
Anah reduces to nine — the number of biblical discoverer.
