Aspasia (Ἀσπασία) is from the Greek aspazomai, meaning "to welcome" or "to embrace." Aspasia of Miletus (c. 470-400 BCE) was the brilliant partner of the Athenian statesman Pericles — celebrated for her eloquence and intellect.
