Iphigenia (Ἰφιγένεια) combines the Greek iphi (strong) and genos (birth) — meaning "strong-born." Daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, sacrificed (or rescued) at Aulis to allow the Greek fleet to sail to Troy.
Iphigenia is rare as a given name but a subject of Euripides, Goethe, and Gluck's opera.
Iphigenia reduces to nine — the number of sacrificed daughter.
