Padmaja is from the Sanskrit padma (पद्म — lotus) + jā (जा — born). Founded the All India Women's Conference Hyderabad branch (1929), co-founded the Indian National Congress Hyderabad branch (1921), and was imprisoned multiple times during the Quit India Movement (1942). Vice Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society. Author of biographies of her mother Sarojini Naidu and of Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park in Darjeeling (founded 1958) is named in her honor.
Padmaja does not currently appear in the US Social Security Administration's top 1,000 girls' names, so we don't publish a US rank or birth count for it. That says nothing about the name's standing elsewhere in the world — only that it sits outside the ranked US data we rely on.
In Pythagorean numerology the letters of Padmaja reduce to 1, The Leader. This is a traditional interpretive system, not a factual claim about the name.
