Pompeia is the Latin feminine of Pompey. Pompeia (c. 86-after 35 BCE) was the granddaughter of Sulla and second wife of Julius Caesar — divorced by him after the Bona Dea scandal, even though she was innocent. Caesar's explanation became the proverb: "Caesar's wife must be above suspicion."
