Semiramis (Σεμίραμις) is the legendary Assyrian queen of the 9th century BCE — possibly based on the historical Shammuramat, mother of King Adad-nirari III. Greek and Roman tradition made her the founder of Babylon and a great conqueror.
Dante placed her among the lustful in the Inferno; Rossini wrote an opera Semiramide (1823).
Semiramis reduces to three — the number of Assyrian queen.
