Tyro (Τυρώ) is the Greek mythological princess of Thessaly — daughter of Salmoneus, in love with the river god Enipeus. **Poseidon disguised himself as Enipeus** and lay with her, fathering Pelias (whose family-tragedy would torment Jason of the Argonauts) and Neleus, **grandfather of Nestor of Pylos**.
Featured in Homer's Odyssey Book 11 — Odysseus sees her shade in the underworld.
Tyro reduces to eight — the number of Greek river-loved.
