Diotima (Διοτίμα) combines the Greek Dio (of Zeus) and tīmē (honor) — "honored by Zeus." Diotima of Mantinea was the priestess and philosopher who, in Plato's Symposium, **teaches Socrates** the philosophy of love and beauty (the famous "Ladder of Love").
Whether historical or literary, she remains one of the most influential female philosophical voices.
Diotima reduces to five — the number of Greek philosophy.
