If you remember the birthdays of your friends (or your own) when you were little, you will remember that it was normal that along with the snacks, sweets and snacks there were cola or orange drinks on the table. Everything seemed so healthy.
Today, children continue to drink cola or other soft drinks, but fortunately, to a lesser extent. Parents are increasingly aware of the importance of healthy eating and soft drinks are not a good option to carry it out.
Be careful what your children drink
Actually, when someone is thirsty (especially children), the only thing that completely quenches thirst is water. When you are thirsty you have to drink water, this is how it is! It is the only thing that will really hydrate your body and will not have long-term side effects on the body.
Soft drinks are full of sugar, additives, preservatives… They are like a long-term poison that can cause serious damage to those who consume it. You probably don’t want this for your kids, do you?
It is also possible that you are one of the parents who eat a good diet every day at home, but who thinks that nothing happens because they have a drink from time to time. But the reality is that that soda will harm your child whether you give it to him once, or if you give it to him more times. Of course, the more times you give it to him, the more danger there will be that it will wreak havoc on his health.
Specialists are against
The specialist and pharmacist Niraj Naik tries to warn families around the world through a study he has published. In it he tells how consuming a soft drink (in this case a cola) immediately affects the children’s body. Taking it for just one day can deplete the nutrients that children’s bodies need to grow and directly affect their bones and teeth.
Thanks to this specialist we can find out what happens to a child’s body when they drink a cola instead of drinking water. Remember something important: a can of cola has the same sugar as 10 cubes.
What happens after you drink a cola
Do not lose detail of what happens as the minutes of the consumption of cola go by…
- After 10 minutes. Tooth enamel is damaged and children’s bodies recognize artificial sweeteners as processed sugar.
- After 20 minutes. The body has a high level of insulin due to excess sugar and it travels through the blood. The liver has to work harder because of the excess fat ingested through drinking.
- When 40 minutes pass. Caffeine is absorbed and children’s pupils dilate. Blood pressure rises and adenosine receptors in the brain are blocked (you do not sleep well and it is difficult to fall asleep). It has an addictive effect.
- After an hour. The phosphoric acid in the drink mixes with calcium, magnesium, and zinc in the small intestine, speeding up metabolism. They feel a strong urge to urinate and a drop in sugar. Nutrients that should have been absorbed by the body but could not because of the soda are expelled through the urine.
As if all this were not enough… if you give your children soft drinks or colas regularly, you will be able to see how their mood changes and that extra energy that excess sugar gives them will turn into a bad mood and little desire to move.
As you can see, the best thing for both children and adults is to drink water whenever you feel thirsty and forget about carbonated drinks full of dangerous sugar. If you want to give him other types of drinks, always natural ones without sugars and without additives… and always in an amount suitable for his age and weight and height.
